Default I want to buy an android 1.6 phone. Is it possible to upgrade the OS?
I would like to know if it is at all possible to upgrade the operating system.

Even if the upgrade is not official, do you have info on "how to"?

Theoretically YES

But it depends on several things.... including compatibility.

Most VENDORS release the OS tweaked for their phone, then the carriers TWEAK it for their network..

You can use a "VANILA" verison of android.. but then you may also end up with a brick...
